Hand Sewing

So, I have kind of become a little obsessed with hand sewing.  It all started when I read my friend Liz's post about hexagons.  I started making hexagons, and then I started looking into other shapes.  I got a little obsessed with youtube craft videos too.  I have now also hand appliquéd, which I have never done before.

I have to say, even though I will never give up my sewing machine, there is something very satisfying about hand sewing.  I kind of feel like it is a meditative process in one way, and I totally love that I can do it any where.  I love the portability of hand sewing.

I've also decided that I like to create traditional quilts and other hand crafts.  I am also totally enjoying the history behind things the hand crafted things.  At one point, I read a story on the underground railroad and quilting.  There is some discussion about wether or not this is real history or just stories, but I find it interesting.  I can't wait to read more!

I'm really looking forward to reading more about the history of different hand crafts and learning to make them!
