Wishcasting Wednesdays

Every so often, I join in with Jamie at http://www.jamieridlerstudios.ca for Wishcasting Wednesday.  This helps me to focus on where I want my life to go and what dreams, goals, and passions I have.  This week Jamie asks: "What do you wish to work on?".

I could answer this in so many ways.  The way I am going to answer this week is: I want to work on making time to do the things I love to do!

I want to try to continue to get more organized to be able to have more free time to do the things I love to do.   I want to feel free to go fun places with my kids.  I want to budget my money better so that I have money to do things with the kids.  I want to make time to work on the different creative things that I want to do; sew, embroider, knit, paper crafts, jewelry, learning new crafts, etc.  I want to work on making time to spend more special time with my husband like having a date night more often (hopefully the warmer weather will help with what to do).  I want to work on making things to sell.  I want to work on getting healthy and staying healthy.  I have a herniated disc that pretty much makes me not want to do anything for the last couple of months. I miss running, even though I never really ran a lot.  Now that I can't run, it's all I want to do.  I'm hoping that after my back gets better, I can work on my running and get to enjoy it again like I was before I stopped!

I guess there are a lot of things that I want to work on, but unless I work on making more time and getting organized, none of it will happen.

I just read a couple of fellow wishcasting posts and it reminded me of another goal that I guess I should put down in writing.  I want to work on utilizing my love of creativity in my social work profession and  I want to work on figuring out how to have a brick and mortar studio and gallery for my community.  I want to have a gallery that people can show off what they create and not worry about it being good enough; the fact that they created it makes it good enough!

What do you wish to work on?

Art Every Day 11/13/2011

We are on day 13 of AEDM and I really have not been meeting my goal. this weekend I did try a new recipe and I started learning how to make CP (cold process) soap and decided that my first attempt at soap making will be hot process (HP) soap making. I have a few goals for this week. I need to start an advent calendar and I need to start it soon. I plan on using this blog post as my inspiration, httt://www.acaseofthemundays.com/2010/12/felt-friday-felt-advent-calendars.html. I need to research HP soap making and supplies. I need to start the projects that I plan to make for the kids' Christmas gifts.

It is really difficult to make time for being creative when you have a 3 1/2 year old and 2 3/4 year old twins, but I think that it is really important for me to make time to be creative. I cant't wait for Tuesday morning. I will have about 2 1/2 hours all to myself. If I can get my act together, I will work on ,y daughter's Christmas gift which will be a felt "paper" dolls set. I am really excited to make this. It will be hand sewn so I can bring it any where. I am also planning on making some felt food as well as some wooden carved food for the kids. I am really excited to make the kids a lot of their gifts.

And now for a confession. I mentioned that I am going to start focusing on jewelry making as my creative medium, but I have decided that it is just not in me to limit the mediums or the type of craft that I use to be creative. I would love to be one of those people who can just excell at one thing, but I am the type of person who likes to try all kids of crafts and crafting mediums! I love learning new things and ways to use different materials. Maybe I really do have ADHD especially creative ADHD! I just need to plan better! I have all sorts of ideas in my head to get more organized and have more time, but right now they are just not coming to fruition! All in due time, I guess!

For now, I am just gng to try to focus on being creative and not worry about anything other than making time to enjoy being creative!

More Ice Cream

I finally found the recipe for the pumpkin ice cream that I have been looking for since last Friday (when I should have printed it out).  I haven't made it yet and probably wont make it til tomorrow at least, but I have the recipe and I think even all the ingredients.

The kids are having their EI evals tomorrow and we need to get the house looking presentable.  I am looking forward to the evals, but I am also a tad bit nervous of the outcome.  Hopefully, they will all get services that will help them with their communication.  They are starting to say more, but really have no functional language at this point.  I am hoping that this is because of things that my husband and I can change and not because of something like autism or PDD (developmental delay).  Because of this delay, their slow weight gain, and other reasons, I really need to get working on getting more organized, especially with meals.  I need to start making more nutritious meals and snacks.  Not that they are eating totally unhealthy, but they are certainly eating more junk food than I would like.  I think I am still getting used to my schedule now that I have a job.  It is certainly taking some time getting used to things, but I think it has been good.

With regards to eating, my husband and I had a huge discussion about dietary intake.  I am so tired of having the best of intentions and not following through with them.  There are so many foods that i love that are so not good for you.  I love starchy carbs, but they pack on the weight on me like you wouldn't believe.  I love sweets and I love salty foods.  Again, foods that are not good for you and all 3 of these types of foods just make you want more!  I really need to get my head around the fact that I need to plan to eat healthyfor me and my kids and my husband!

So my next step is to plan meals for the rest of the week.  I started off writing about a fun topic like ice cream adn some how, I ended up talking about a way more serious issue.  I am so happy to have this blog so that I can write down these thoughts and feelings.  Even if no one reads them and no one comments, it is a place where I can put down the trials that I face trying to follow through with the life style that I want to lead.  It is not easy to live the way I want to.  We have way too many sshort cuts taht make things easy ion the moment, but in the long run, they make things so much worse!

Thanks to anyone who reads and comments on my blogs.  I really appreciate the feedback.  Hopefully some day, I'll be able to stop writing about how I want to live and start wrinting about actually living he way I want to be living!

Creative Play with Photos

I had a lot of fun playing with photoshop.  I am learning slowly, mostly from watching scrapbooking shows.  I should be scrapbooking the kids' albums, but I am playing on the computer.  At least this way I'll hopefully have some fun pictures to add to their albums!

God, did I have fun playing!

Getting Crafty

On my http://thiscrazylife-amy.blogspot.com I wrote about my love of creativity and my desire to get my kids involved in being creative.  The biggest problem I am finding right now is trying to find the time to work on my projects.  I think I will either have to schedule a specific time for my projects, say when the kids are napping or in bed for the night.  I think this will make things a little easier or I will just have to put off projects until they are a little older.  I do try to make sure that I do creative things that need to be done instead of taking the easy way out, say making Thank-you cards or if I can remember in time, birthday cards.

I am hoping that now that the kids are a little older, they can start doing crafty things too.  I know that the twins are probably a little too young, but I think maybe I can start them out with something like finger painting with pudding?  I think Michael may be old enough to start to use crayons a little.  Maybe if I start working with them now, when they are a little older, I can create along with them.   Then I can get some projects of my own completed and we can start doing things together.

I am hoping that the kids are going to enjoy being creative as both my husband and I enjoy this.  I have too many loves to name all, but I love paper crafts, knitting, sewing, making jewelry, and so much more.  My husband is a shop teacher and a woodworker and I love that kind of stuff too.

If anyone has any suggestions for a craft kit for little ones, please comment your suggestions.  Also if there are projects that have worked for you or that you or your kids enjoyed, please comment on that also.
